LE PUY-EN-VELAY, FRANCE

The Way of Saint James leads pilgrims from Le Puy en Velay in Eastern France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.  It is own of the great pilgrimages of Christendom.  The route is marked with scallop shells (which St James is said to have gathered) to guide the faithful.  This scallop marks the commencement of the pilgrimage in Le Puy en Velay.

The image was taken with a hand held Phase One 645 Camera at ISO 800. Exposure of 1/320 second and aperture f5.   45 mm Phase One lens.   The image was captured on a Phase One IQ180 80 megapixel digital back.
