FOOD MARKET
GWANGJANG MARKET, SEOUL
Image Numbers 604 & 611
Gwangjang Market is one of those food markets that has not been altered or cleaned up for tourists. You can see local families, friends, and groups of suited businessmen all grabbing something to eat and drink. There are food stalls as far as the eye can see, selling all manner of items. Seating is scarce, but stalls selling the same thing are lumped in the same area, so you can find somewhere to sit at any one of them. The fried yellow bean cakes and the pork and kimchi dumplings are to die for. You often get soup and side dishes even at these tiny stalls.
