The Franz Josef Glacier is a 12 km (7.5 mi) long temperate maritime glacier located in Westland Tai Poutini National Park on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island.

This image features an iceberg from the glacier. It is possible to see the rocks inside the ice which the glacier has accumulated in its journey. The image may be purchased as a single image or divided into a triptich of smaller images. Although it is a realistic photograph, the image presents as abstract art.

TECHNICAL NOTES

The image was taken with a hand-held Phase One 645XF Camera at ISO 50. Exposure of 1/60th of a second and an aperture of F5.6. Schneider Kreuznach 80 mm lens with leaf shutter. The image was captured on a Phase One IQ3 100 megapixel digital back.
