Cloudehill is a spectacular commercial garden in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria, at an altitude of 580 metres. The garden has deep volcanic loam soil and 1.25 metres of rainfall. There is little frost. These factors help explain why this is one of the outstanding places to garden worldwide. Cloudehill is known for its meadows of daffodils and other bulbs in spring. Alowyn is a nursery and events centre focused on a spectacular garden in Victoria's Yarra Valley. There are 5 clearly defined areas within the gardens, a perennial border, designed to display colour from Spring to Autumn, a silver birch forest, an edible garden of generous proportions, a parterre garden and a number of display gardens.

The carriageway of elms down which the great opera singer, Dame Nellie Melba, drove home to Coombe Cottage, now preserved much as she left it, save for an exceptional a la carte restaurant and wine tastings from the estate vineyard. Her estate is now owned by her great-grandson, Lord Vestey.

CAPE SCHANCK LIGHTHOUSE

Cape Schanck is located at the southern tip of the Mornington Peninsula, fronting the waters of Bass Strait. There is no defined commercial centre at Cape Schanck as such, with nearby Rosebud and Flinders serving the area. Overlooking the promontory is the Cape Schanck lighthouse which was built in 1859 out of local limestone and features a rare spiral staircase made from stone. The lighthouse is surrounded by a reserve that includes a museum, former keeper's quarters and associated buildings.

Gunnamatta Beach is an exposed, high energy, 3km stretch of beach with a wide, rip dominated surf zone. The Alfred Nicholas Garden, gifted to the people of Victoria by the founder of the Aspro fortune, is one of the jewels of the Dandenong ranges. The centrepiece is an idyllic lake with a tiny picturesque boathouse and charming pedestrian bridges. The lake is surrounded by native tree ferns and is emblematic of the lush Victorian rainforests.
