The area around Gruyeres, in South-West Switzerland is celebrated not simply for its cheese, but because it is a wonderland of traditional Swiss farms. This house is the village of Les Moulins, south of Gruyeres. Built in 1726, the family story is carved into the facia.

The image was taken with a tripod-mounted Phase One 645 Camera at ISO 35. The aperture was F11 with an exposure of 1.6 seconds. 80 mm Schneider-Kreuznach lens with leaf shutter. The image was captured on a Phase One IQ180 80 megapixel digital back. The verticals have been corrected and shadow areas have been opened using Capture One.
