CORN DRYING

 In Vietnam, the area under corn is more than 1.1 million ha .  Nonetheless every year Vietnam still has to import more than 1 million tonnes of maize as food for cattle.   Vietnamese production is centred in the north.  This corn is being dried in the rafters of a Black Hmong house outside Sapa close to the Chinese border.    

TECHNICAL NOTES

The image was taken with a tripod-mounted  Phase One 645 Camera at ISO 35. Exposure of 13 seconds and aperture F15.  45 mm Phase One lens with focal plane shutter.   The image was captured on a Phase One IQ180 80 megapixel digital back.   Although the image appears to have been shot in daylight, it was very dark inside the house, necessitating a very long exposure.
